  • As a hoop on loose or gathered hair. For this option, thin scarves of short length are suitable for you.

How to wear a scarf around your neck - classic options

The neckerchief can be tied in various ways, depending on its size. So if you have a small square handkerchief, the easiest way is to fold it in half diagonally and tie it into a headscarf. The edges can be hidden under a kerchief, or you can make a beautiful small knot for such a kerchief on the side.

Also, a square scarf can be folded into an accordion, gently straightening its folds, wrap it around the neck and tie the ends into a free knot. Do not forget to straighten the edges of the scarf after that, otherwise it will look simply sloppy.

But if you are dealing with a thin narrow accessory, such a scarf will be easiest to knit like an ordinary men's tie. If you want him to look smart at the same time, complement your own look with a large brooch. This option is suitable not only for a casual look, but also for various festive events in the office or a festive autumn or winter outfit.

How beautiful to tie a scarf?

The so-called shawl-square (from the French carre - square), that is, a square silk shawl, is considered a classic. The ancestor of such headscarves can be safely called the fashion house Hermès, which in 1928 presented the cult collection of headscarves that later became a cult collection.

It's no secret that the cost of a high-quality silk scarf (especially an original from Hermès!) Can be quite high. And there is an objective reason for this: according to Hermès employees, it takes ... two years to create one scarf. The development of the design can take six months, the engraver creates a stencil and special cliches (transparencies, onto which a sketch is transferred with a pen and black ink), the number of which corresponds to the number of colors in the design, and it can amount to tens.

The finished engraving then goes through a long stage of computer processing: additional color variations are selected for the seemingly finished design in order to choose the ideal among them. The next step: printing the design on a roll of silk 150 meters long. One mistake (and it is not excluded) - and 150 meters of high-quality silk will be spoiled!

Finally, at the final stage, the finished product undergoes rigorous quality checks. It may seem that this stage is the easiest to overcome, but in practice, censors do not know pity and really weed out scarves that do not meet the standard by 100%!

Designer of the domestic brand Sirinbird

The world of fashion is quite unstable, every day designers have new thoughts, interesting ideas and original ideas... Catwalks give us surprises - including a return to the past. Out-of-fashion slip dresses, platform, overalls are again being bought up with incredible enthusiasm by women of fashion. And this applies not only to clothes, but also to accessories, one of which is twilly.

This is a narrow silk ribbon that you could see in pictures and lookbooks back in 1960. The convenience of this accessory is that it is multifunctional. But even with such a variety of ways to wear it, many still wonder what to combine it with and how to wear it at all.

And the answer is absolutely simple: the use of twilly is limited only by your own imagination. So, let's take a look at seven of the most popular and simple ideas.

Popular

The bow tie

The best replacement for a scarf is twillie. With this accessory you will be able to embody those ideas that are difficult to implement with a regular scarf. Try to tie it like a bow tie. This detail will fit for everyday looks. And it looks unusual.

Choker

Of course, there is no longer such a massive obsession with chokers as in the 1990s, and for lovers of this accessory there is an interesting alternative - twilly. Simply tie around your neck and release the ends or knot them tightly.

Tie

Women take almost everything from men's fashion: formal trousers, jackets, boots, shirts with cufflinks - these wardrobe items have gained their popularity in women's clothing. Therefore, an accessory such as a tie will definitely fit into an evening outfit, which will add sexuality to your look, and a business look - and will be ideally combined with a white shirt.

Hair band

One of the most popular ways is to secure the tape in your hair. You can make a ponytail, a voluminous bun and tie a silk ribbon nicely over the top. Do not forget that Russian motives are now at the peak of popularity, so weaving twillies into your braid will be the perfect solution when creating a romantic look for a date.

Belt

Stylish accessories will make even the simplest look original. Straps and belts take one of the first places among them. Twilly can help here too: take two ribbons, tie them together in a nice knot, and tie a long white blouse, or accentuate your waist in a shirt dress.

A small life hack! If you link 2 twillies, then you will have many more options for decorating your image. This option is perfect for plus-size girls.

Bracelet / Twillie Watch

The trend of this year is the bracelet / twillie watch. You can tie a silk ribbon around your wrist as an unusual bracelet that will match a business-style set, evening or casual outfit. You can also attach the dial to the twillie, and then you will have a stylish accessory on your hand that will definitely attract the eyes of others.

Choker / necklace

A little black dress will add elegance to the look and alone, but a stylish and moderately bright accessory will add the necessary accents. By tying twillies around your neck, you will depict a kind of silk necklace that you can wear not only on special occasions, but also in everyday life.

Scarf Is, without exaggeration, a chic accessory that remained in the shadows for a long time, but several seasons ago it made us happy with its triumphant return.

Although the attitude towards silk scarves is still ambiguous among many women. Some simply adore them, believing that this is an irreplaceable object that allows you to decorate any, even the most ordinary image. It is difficult to argue with this, especially now, when this wonderful accessory is again at the top of the fashionable Olympus. But often fans of headscarves stylize them in a somewhat archaic way.... If you belong to the category of fashionistas with awe about this object, then this article is just for you - from it you will learn about the most relevant ways to stylize a scarf and create a modern and very stylish look with it. I will share with you not only ways to style a scarf around your neck, but also other interesting options for its use.

There is another category of women for whom a headscarf is an infinitely archaic thing, and it evokes associations in them either with extremely elderly ladies or with airline employees. If you belong to this group, which does not favor scarves, then this article will also be useful for you - after reading it, you may change your view of this wonderful accessory, and replenish your fashion arsenal with new methods of stylizing your image.

In fact, such a small accessory can turn any set not only stylish and modern, but even chic. How to do it? Let's figure it out!

First of all, forget about the eight hundred and twenty-nine ways of tying a scarf that are flooded with the Internet. In most cases, the result of such exercises looks old-fashioned and, at least, strange.

Below, we'll take a look at three factors to consider to create a fresh, stylish, modern and endless appeal with a scarf. without the risk of being mistaken for a stewardessand at the same time not look archaic.

Adult women should pay particular attention to the stylization of the headscarf, since any hint of an old-fashioned way of completing it gives age, and this is hardly the goal of anyone.

1. Which scarf to choose

Opt for a modern scarf print. The size can be any, it all depends on the way you will tie it.

The old-fashioned print of a scarf can "help" to throw up the age, so it is best to opt for modern models... Floral print with stylized flowers is very relevant.
Leopard print, which not everyone can withstand on a large area, works great in small accessories, and a scarf with such a print will act as an ironic and playful accent. ...

Below: stylized floral motifs and leopard print.

Geometric patterns (from angular, clear geometry to round peas), abstract and paisley patterns are no less relevant.

Below: Paisley and Geometric Print.

You can also make a choice in favor of a plain shawl - so you definitely can't go wrong!

Below: solid color shawl and abstract floral pattern.

The scarf is in the immediate vicinity of your face, so it is important to make sure that the color of the scarf matches your color scheme (), and that the lines of its print do not conflict with your facial features.
That is, for people with soft facial features, it is better to choose smooth or rounded lines (rounded geometry, floral print, leopard, paisley, etc.).
If your facial features are pointed, then crisp geometric prints are just for you.

A small print is suitable for women with small facial features, but a large print, accordingly, will beautify those with larger facial features.

Below: a geometric print for a girl with sharp features, a print with stylized flowers for a girl with softer features.

If you are the owner of a scarf whose color or print does not suit you, do not rush to get rid of it! The scarf can be worn not only around the neck, but also removed away from the face. Below you will learn about several such interesting ways to style this accessory.

If you nevertheless chose a "retro print", then try to wear such a scarf with modern and very casual clothes (jeans, denim shirt, T-shirt, etc.), avoiding a complete set with a sheath dress, for example, or with a strict fitted jacket ... Or, even worse, with a knitted "blouse".

2. How to tie a scarf

Tie a scarf modern way.

As you know, everything new is well forgotten old. So many modern methods of tying a scarf are based on the method that was used by Audrey Hepburn.

The current methods of stylizing a scarf resemble this one: that is, the scarf most often fits tightly to the neck, and the hanging ends should not be too lush and voluminous. You may have already noticed this in all the photos above.

An old-fashioned knotted scarf instantly makes the whole look extremely archaic. It looks especially disastrous when combined with an outdated print.

Of course, all this can be played up in an interesting way, but for this you need to have certain stylistic skills.

Let's take a look at some simple and effective modern ways to style a scarf that won't let us down.

1. Node

The method is the simplest, but very effective. Lay out a small square handkerchief and then fold it starting at the corner. Tuck the first corner diagonally, and then continue to fold the scarf so that you get a rather thin ribbon. Wrap it around your neck and tie a knot.

Unroll the knot to its side or leave it in the middle like Audrey, letting the ends hang loosely. This must be done very carefully, as a casually tied knot will ruin all your efforts.

2. Choker

This method is no less simple, the result of which is an interesting and unusual choker. Do the same (see point 1 "Knot"), and then unfold the scarf around your neck so that the knot is at the back.

The knot can be placed on the front or side by wrapping the scarf around the neck several times and the knot will be miniature. You can also hide the ends or leave them hanging loose on the back of your neck.

This is a very advantageous option, since, unlike other methods, it does not have such an explicit reference to the past, and with it you run the least risk of creating an old-fashioned image. The result will definitely turn out just gorgeous!

3. French knot

For this method, either a larger square scarf or a rectangular long narrow scarf is suitable.

Fold the rectangular scarf to the desired width, then tie it several times around the neck (the number of times depends on the length of the scarf and the width of the neck :)). Tie the ends of the scarf in a neat knot in the middle.

If for this purpose you use a square scarf, then fold it as described in the first paragraph (see the item "Knot") to the width you need, and then do the same as with a rectangular scarf. One triangular end does not need to be tucked, leaving it in front.

4. Cowboy style

Tying a cowboy-style headscarf is easy. Fold the square scarf in half diagonally to form a triangle, and then tie the ends at the back. Voila, as the French cowboys say!

This method can be a little more complicated by stretching the ends of the scarf forward and tying them around the front of the neck (second photo below). The result is a combination of French knot and cowboy style.

The western style is very relevant now, so the scarves could not stand aside, since the “correctly” cowboy-tied scarf is one of its iconic attributes. In fact, to create an actual look, you don't need to cosplay cowboys at all, just a small detail is enough as a reference to this style. A handkerchief will come in handy.

If you are afraid that the scarf will visually make the neck shorter, then you can roll it up into a rather narrow strip of fabric (first photo below), so it will resemble a necklace and will not “take away” centimeters from the neck. If you are happy with the length of your neck, then the scarf can cover more of it (second photo below). Also, such options are only suitable for people with a clear jawline.

3.With what to wear a scarf

Wear a scarf with casual, casual clothing. If you want to combine a scarf with more formal clothing, then its cut should be very modern.

If you combine a scarf with a fitted shirt, a pencil skirt and a fitted jacket, with a sheath dress, with a tight knitted blouse, etc., then the image can really turn out to be quite archaic. The more relaxed and minimalist your kit is, the less likely you are to evoke associations with some extremely old-fashioned lady, and also not to confuse you with a flight attendant.

Plus, adding a shawl to such a simple casual outfit instantly makes it more presentable.

Even the most ordinary set, made up of a denim skirt and a T-shirt or jeans and a shirt, a properly selected and tied scarf in a beautiful color will add a touch of chic.

A scarf looks unusual and interesting in unexpected combinations, for example, with a blouse or a dress in the Peizan style.

The most optimal, if you are afraid to make a mistake and overdo it with details, is to wear a scarf with a very simple, even minimalist set, making the scarf itself the main accent without overloading the image. Anyone can create such a combination, even those who have never experimented with such an accessory, and the result is more than spectacular.

Those who are not afraid to take risks can try a very fashionable technique of mixing different prints in one look, combining a scarf with some kind of pattern with a dress, blouse or printed skirt. ...

Nevertheless, a scarf can be included in a business look, to which it will add a touch of femininity and, of course, make it much more interesting. In this case, try to select modern fit clothing, creating a modern silhouette, avoiding outdated shapes and lines.
.

A sheath dress, a pencil skirt with a narrow blouse, a shirt with an old-fashioned jacket — against the background of these things, a scarf risks throwing you about ten years. Even a very young woman will not beautify such a package.

Neck scarf for adult women

Notice how blogger Nancy is styling the scarf in the photo below. She chooses geometric or abstract prints, ties in a shawl in modern ways, and pairs it with a simple, minimalist top or very casual outfit (denim jacket, striped jumper). She has a very modern hairstyle and glasses. As a result, we see an elegant yet youthful and stylish woman.

The older a woman is, the more cautious one must approach the use of a scarf, so as not to add age to oneself with an unsuccessful stylization of this accessory. Do not be afraid that the scarf will make your image archaic or make you old. If you take into account all of the above three points, namely, choose the print and color that suits you, put on clothes of the current cut and tie a scarf in a modern way, then, on the contrary, it will significantly rejuvenate you.

Neck scarf placement options

Do not forget that the scarf, although it is a neck, can be worn on other parts of the body and not only on the body!

A long rectangular or large square scarf can be used as a belt by passing it through the belt loops of jeans or trousers.
Is the square handkerchief too small? Just tie it to the belt loop!

Daring fashionistas can use a scarf as a headband.
A small square handkerchief is a colorful alternative to a bracelet.

A scarf can decorate your bag too. It couldn't be easier - tie a square scarf with a classic knot around one of the bag handles. The result is simply amazing!

As you can see neckerchief is a very versatile accessory, which will help bring a colorful accent to any, even the most minimalist image. So let's use his truly magical power and give him the opportunity to paint our wardrobe with the brightest colors!
