The process of creating a yacht was very heavy, but only when the swimming was suitable for completion, I realized that my finish coincides with the date up to several hours with Finishes in, which was 12 years ago. I realized that I was closed by a 12-year cycle. It turned out exactly 12 years and 12 hours. It all started from the moment when the round-the-world race was completed. During this time, there was a lot of things. The construction of the yacht began in the summer of 2003. And everything that has been done is preparation for swimming. Swimming continued 44 days, preparation - 12 years. There was such a huge number of events, people who disinterestedly participated in this project. In a different way, such things do not occur. Of course, I do not perceive this result as my personal.

I went out into some new space, gained a new knowledge. Knowing what people - every person live in its own world. In any situation, he lives in his world, which himself creates its own efforts, and can not be different. No more, no less. And only it depends on how his world looks like. If, let's say, some kind of person you do not like, then no one is to blame that you are such a fucking artist. How did you paint it, so it seems to you. Draw again.

In order to get everything, you need to give everything. In principle, no person can give everything, but can approach it. Invest yourself for a long time to the maximum, without thinking about anything, contrary to all fears, fears, efforts ... Even a small case is associated with risk. With the risk of the fact that nothing will come of it. And is it worth putting it in it? If you are able to input completely, you will get much more than I gave. You get high-quality other states. A person has only his condition.

Where did it come from, the fourth dimension, in general, the whole situation? This is a long forgotten past ... I had a desire to create a similar yacht since my childhood. It all started with the villages of 10-12 years old, corn were at all places where it should be. When I was 16 years old, I read a book about the Canadian captain, about a person who built a yacht and went around her around the world alone. His yacht could go with a fastened steering wheel. In the whole story - and more than a hundred years have passed - not a single yacht has been created, with the exception of our "wind of change" and. When you go under the sail - it's such a miracle! It turns out that you can move along the surface of the ocean or the sea and do not rest with all my might, leaving on the vest, stinging corn. Just wonderful! I was lucky in this regard. And, undoubtedly, the ability does not steer is very important. For me it has already become a reality. Almost no effort requires the management of the yacht.

It is interesting to look at the water for the feed - the spectacle is unmatched, it relaxes. Let's say if there is something bad, then all this is worn. And when you want to get something, you need to look at the incoming wave. When the breeze is still on, you feel at the same time as if water that runs on you. These are interesting things.

What is the meaning of the fourth dimension? How to feel it? The main thing is the situation in which you are minimally busy whatever. It turns out, because the yacht goes herself, nothing needs to be done. It is necessary to think very seriously in advance so that nothing was worried at all. That is, creating a situation in advance.

A person always lives in the world that created himself, there is no other way. When a person in trouble, he accuses anyone and does not understand that he himself modeled the situation. But in this case you are conscious and purposefully create a world of definite quality. That is, finally the possibility of creating such a world, in which you will not meet with troubles.

The parameters are as follows: should not be cold, should not blow a strong wind, there should be no much work and so on. Already being in it, you begin to understand what it is. It is very important to keep it there and not fall out.

At the same time you serve any signs. One sign was - the ship appeared. Before that there was nothing. Then an even more stern sign - the pigeon flew. It was not far from the islands of the green cape, there is a sport of such - postal pigeons run. I thought he would fly away. But no, 11 days was on the yacht. It was a serious warning: he was very cool violated my situation, as it was necessary to feed him and do something with him. As a result, I thought that he would be with me to the end, and took it as proper. Also there was an interesting practice. On the other hand, we used the entire experience gained experience in creating yachts, design, materials science, technologies, including the experience of this person ... Well, plus, of course, Gurdjieff, his "fourth way", Dae Jing, and Jing and Everything else that managed to learn from the wisdom. They are also part of a lot of work, long to life.

The awareness appeared when I first started talking to the waves ... The wind is not scary: sails removed, and that's it. And the waves often create very serious situations. Well, it also was the beginning of a new practice. The thought that sounds very simple: this time everything will be different. - "Whitbred", perhaps, as it was, remains the most spectacular and most sporting competition in the world of sails. Although personally, I will impress the races alone more. It's mine. You see, I submitted all my life to achieve a certain result: when I did something, mentally always imagined how this would help me in achieving the goals set in front of him. I dreamed myself with cold water, hardening and preparing myself to swim in cold latitudes, pressed and pulled up on the crossbar, preparing to climb the mast. How it has programmed, so all life and went. Of course, I and in the question of special knowledge focused on solving my tasks - I read a lot of literature, studying the design and management of the yacht.

- By the way, what competitions, in your opinion, have the greatest impact on the constructive development of modern yachts?

Undoubtedly, these competitions are single-sided yachtsmen. These races are held on the open-class yachts "Open-60", where there are no restrictions, and nothing restrains the design idea. Understanding this, the organizers of the World Wheatbred also introduced the class of 60-fu-tuchikov in competition, which are very close in their characteristics to "Open-60", but even this is not the same. This is still not an open class, but the class "W-60" with its design limitations, materials, etc.

- What is your forecast for progress in the design of the yachts, which will first of all affect the changes?

This is a very interesting question. Indeed, it would seem, after invented a water ballast, what else could you expect? But now there are swinging keel, swivel masts, nasal swords, etc. It seems to me that the big prospects of yacht construction are associated with the materials used. In this area there are interesting developments, but even a tree, in my opinion, undeservedly ignored by the builders of racing yachts, has not yet exhausted all their capabilities. In addition, many are now working with masts - interesting decisions are constantly arising here. Of course, you need to continue working with the underwater part, keels and swaps.

- What are you, in your opinion, the main components of the overall success of the race: personal and sports qualities of the rider, the characteristics of the boat, and maybe luck and luck?

In a conversation about racing of single-line yachtsmen, the word "luck" should be completely excluded from the lexicon. There are intuition and flair that are produced with experience. They help in choosing a faithful course at the moment when it comes to finding the best wind conditions. But I repeat - accidents in such races does not happen; Any success or failure is logical. Unforeseen situations, of course, arise how it happened, for example, with our yacht, when she flew to a huge one - about a meter in diameter - fucked. The old fiberglass boat would surely get a deadly hole, and the "wind of change", made of a complex laminate with a powerful middle layer of balsa and outer layers using high-strength modern fibers (for example - carbon), did not suffer so much. And this is a legitarious outcome, because at the design stage we believed that its strength characteristics will be obviously higher than usual.


As for the sports abilities of Yakhtsman, it seems to me that it should be said first of all about the qualities of the rider, but about human qualities at all. The qualities of the yacht depend on the person. For example, we have a pretty decent experience of designing and building yachts. But very many participants of the circle do not understand why certain engineering solutions apply in the design of their boats. They believe that they need to know it: there are designers, designers - they say, let them think. Although, in my opinion, such a position often does not allow riders to see the roots of the problems that they face into the sea prevents the effectiveness of the applied technologies and design solutions. Of course, if a person in his racing preparations above the other two heads, probably, he can afford such an attitude. However, as the race showed, the majority of the participants were not able to identify the disadvantage in all the yacht projects designed by the Finino group. All these boats had swinging Kili and Swughrs, which were too much shifted into the nose. Such an arrangement of fins is inefficient, the swords almost do not work. And none of the riders, by the way, having extensive experience of walking on such yachts, did not even think about the possible inefficiency of the system. So it was up to the end of the army. Only when they saw in front of their own eyes the sample of a different design in the face of "Wet Ra River", they were able to ask this question. Our boat is fundamentally different from Yacht Fino. It's a shame only that we cannot fully implement all the ideas and development in the finished project. There are always difficulties on the way - financial, organizational - and we do not fully carry out what they really thought.

- Do you mean your words that among the yachts - participants of the last race you can not highlight the project worthy of your ideas?

I am absolutely sincerely saying that my boat is the best of those that I happened to see. There are practically no shortcomings in it. There are flaws that can be eliminated, but there are no constructive disadvantages, and in other boats, they are obvious. My yacht has wonderful running qualities, it is easily controlled. "Wind of Change" is the only yacht that almost half of the path has passed without auto-stop. The whole world could make sure that the boat perfectly goes herself when I was just unable to climb the deck on the day with a commemorative operation on the elbow. So, for 24 hours of yacht, going to Butstag, overcame 240 miles - it also says something. The boat is superbly balanced.

So I would prefer not to comment on projects that have what is obvious to me, substantial disadvantages. But as for the designers, which I sympathize, I could highlight the lambard brand, with whom we met, and whose glances to the design of the yacht are close to me.

- Can you tell me about your new project?

At the moment I already clearly imagine what this yacht will be. Of course, it will retain the main features of the "wind of change". Although there is and what to change. And it's not even that we try to avoid repetition of any errors. Just the "wind of change" was designed quite inhabited, with a distant sight on its operation after the race. Now, I will most likely make a purely racing version of the yacht that entailing some changes in the location of the wvert and lifting mechanisms will affect the height of the side.

- With whom from the race participants you are familiar with the closer, who is sympathetic to you?

We communicated a lot with Mike Garsida - he is a very interesting person. It so happened that he was the first to come to me and introduced himself. It turned out that we have a common army past: I served in the Airborne Forces, and he was in the special forces of the British royal strength.


- What do you think is logical by the results of the race, do they reflect the actual picture of the events and the sports abilities of riders?

It is difficult to answer unequivocally ... For example, I believe that Mark Tierselin (2nd place - approx. Ed.) - Very strong racer. And the fateful role is that he gave way to Soldini, played crawling mast. Soldini is also a competent racer, a person who has more than others understand in the design of the yacht, he is one of those who first drew attention to the peculiarities of our yacht. He, of course, is a very extensive experience of ocean races, but also Mark Tierselin is a serious racer.

- Is it possible to say that only one increase in the length of the boat to 50 feet would lead you to the leader's company?

Of course, the length of the yacht is of great importance. In practice, the gap between my yacht and the yachts of the leaders directly depended on the middle speed, which was determined long. And besides, at the first stage, I had only one set of sails, consisting of a grotto and staxel.

- The injury received in the sea is fully heal?

Yes, nothing bothers nothing. By the way, Oksana Makhno helped me with the disease, the former Russian subject, a doctor living now in New Zealand. During the parking lot in Auckland, she spent a couple of weeks a special elbow therapy and cured him completely.

For a number of reasons, and, in particular, due to the reduced mass of the bulb of the keel, the stability of the boat turned out to be insufficient. Several times the yacht overturned and went to the water sails. Once a strong wind at the wind sharply transferred the grotto and yacht knocked over. For some time I was waiting for, trying to understand what I should do: whether the hatch would shout if the boat continues to turn over, whether to remove the sail and try to bring it back into a vertical position.
